A company in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, that helps couples name their newborn has sparked controversy over the exorbitant prices it charges.
The company charges 3,386 yuan ($437) for up to 14 name choices, which it says convey strong personalities suitable for the baby.
The naming fee is more than a monthly income of a local white-collar worker. The naming company, however, argued the expensive naming fee is worth paying because a good name will benefit a person for a lifetime.
